The strength of the Israel Defense Forces, which has been guarding the State of Israel since it declared independence in 1948, derives from the selfless determination and great capabilities of its soldiers.  At the tender age of 18, courageous men and women join the IDF, promising to uphold the difficult task of defending the State of Israel and guaranteeing the safety of those who reside within its borders. Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) has assumed the responsibility of providing these soldiers with wellbeing support in an effort to ease the burden they carry on behalf of the Jewish people worldwide. In 1981, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces was established as a not-for-profit organization, fulfilling David Ben-Gurion’s vision for an American pillar of support for Israel’s soldiers. Since its inception, FIDF has dedicated itself to providing and supporting educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and facilities for the young men and women of the Israel Defense Forces. FIDF also supports the families of fallen soldiers.
